A village inside the city

Konstantinopolitika was built by families from Constantinople, on old pastureland at the foot of Mount Chortiatis. The bakery is run by two brothers: Vangelis Markou, who was born here in 1973 and has never left, and Thodoros Markou, born in 1975.

In 1999 the bakery opened on Seferi Street, on the very spot where “Vangelis’ grill house” once stood. Ever since, Vangelis and Thodoros have been kneading and baking for the neighbourhood every day.
